The
Conference to explore civil dialogue among faiths
The Faith and Education Collaborative, Friends of Peace Studies-UM, will convene a conference on “Civility in Faith and Family” on April 18, 2010, at the First Baptist Church, 1112 E. Broadway, in Columbia. The conference will focus on how to have open and honest personal communication with persons of other faiths and beliefs, as well as within one’s own family and faith community, without being judgmental.
Sarah Read, J.D., president of the Communications Center in Columbia, will provide the keynote speech on “Civility in Our Relationships.” After the keynote address, small groups will form to practice communication using the QFT technique from The Right Question Project, Inc.
All interested persons are welcome.
The conference will be from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Refreshments will be available. There is a registration fee of $5 per person or a block reservation fee of $25 for six persons. The registration deadline is April 12. Click here to download a registration form.
