Pre-Chanukah/Chanukah Party at Mizzou Hillel

chanukahYou are invited to a Pre-Chanukah Chanukah Party hosted by Rabbi Zvi Schartz of Heritage Scholars of St. Louis, providing Jewish services to students at Wash U. and other area colleges. Come to Hillel, Thursday, December 10, from 5 to 7 pm to pre- celebrate the holiday and take a break from finals study! Dinner is served with latkes and sub sandwiches and includes games, raffles, dreidles, and a visit by Mike the Balloon Man! FREE!

JSO’s Chanukah party is Friday, December 11, following Shabbat services beginning at 6 pm. Soup and latkes with sour cream and applesauce precedes sufganiyot (jelly- filled doughnuts) for dessert. It’s also Senior Farewell and we’ll have a White Elephant Exchange, so bring a wrapped, $5 or less, gift or something gently used.

13th Annual Columbia Values Diversity Awards

martinlutherPlease help us celebrate diveristy in our community by nominating an individual, family, organization or group for the 13th Annual Columbia Values Diveiversity Awards. This is a great way to show your appreciation for those who have had signigicant impact in our community in promoting diversity and cultural understanding!

These awards will be presented at the 17th Annual Columbia Values Diversity Celebration on Thursday, January 14, 2010 recognizing people whose work in our community exemplifies the life and techings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by fostering individual dignity, racial equality, understanding, peacemakeing, and solvibg problems through non-violence.

Two awards will be presented:

  • One individual/family award
  • One organization/group award
